Fillings and Extractions

Children most commonly require fillings due to tooth decay, which is typically caused by acidic and sugary foods, as well as insufficient oral health care.

If a tooth is poorly decayed, we may recommend an extraction, as leaving a tooth untreated or waiting for it to fall out may cause decay to spread and lead to severe pain. Additionally, baby teeth may be extracted to make room for incoming adult teeth.

If your child requires a filling or extraction, our experienced team will make his/her treatment as comfortable as possible. A local anaesthetic will be administered to numb the mouth and our team will utilize the ‘tell-show-do’ method of pediatric dentistry, meaning we’ll tell and show your child what we’re doing so there are no surprises. Your child can even watch TV during the procedure to provide a distraction.
